Synopsis The book “Reengineering the Corporation” talks about a new wave of redesigning, re organizing and refining your business.  The essentials being taught are very risky but the success maybe of better value than expected.  The notion of being a sensitive company is being transformed into a go-getter company.   Reengineering, as defined in the book, is a concept that involves a total turn around of a designed system and eventually the whole organization and its processes.  The concept as set by the book, involves strategic short term and long term contingencies that are translated to abandoning of the old set-up. In reengineering, the processes, the systems and the whole organizational set-up are re-aligned and roles are redefined in order to cope up with the changing times.  The concept is to formulate new efficiencies in the organization, and effectiveness of the systems and processes.  Reengineering is to consider a complete change of the organization, a complete turn-around of the whole set-up, and establishing a new system.  For those people who could not accept the change, reengineering will be the best solution that must be applied.   The essence of reengineering is to be creative, intuitive, doing it differently and the perception of doing it the future.  As a leader and manager, the essence is more of being it competitively indifferent to face the challenge of the future and adopting such change to the environment of the industry. Personal Reflection: I do believe that reengineering as a process for strategic change is a high risk option that a company faces.  The risk involve may jeopardize the whole organization should contingencies, lack of preparations and a weak leadership be a factor.  Reengineering is applicable to companies which could afford short term loses and the financial stature of the company is in good shape.  However, the immeasurable risk must be at least counted and considered. Another point which I would like to raise is the imparted information that must be address firmly to all employees.  Reengineering is good if the employees will understand the purpose and the changes that will transpire.
